2018 ANNUAL FUNDRAISING LETTER

Dear Neighbor,

In our special village, the spirit of community is as palpable as our breathtaking geography. It is in this spirit that the Croton Caring Committee’s members and volunteers give time and resources without reservation to help those in need in our community.  But we need your help to continue making a difference!

Our work would not be possible without the generosity of so many community members who have supported us and our programs through their donations.  We would be extremely grateful if you would consider making a donation.  As always, all support will stay in Croton and be used to benefit Croton residents.

OUR ORGANIZATION AND MISSION

Established nearly 40 years ago, the Croton Caring Committee’s members and volunteers work tirelessly in furtherance of its mission to enlist the resources of the Croton community to help the frail, elderly, homebound, handicapped, and families in need of temporary assistance, enabling them to maintain their independence and dignity.  Working hand-in-hand with local government, houses of worship, schools and service organizations we provide support to hundreds of Croton residents.

OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Below are some of the programs and services we currently provide. We continue to work to develop new programs to meet the needs of the Croton community.

  • Medical Transportation – Our volunteers provide those in need with free, round-trip transportation to medical appointments within a 15-mile radius of Croton (encompassing all local hospitals).  In the last month alone we have provided more than 20 rides.

  • Senior Luncheons – We provide a venue for seniors to socialize and engage with other community members, including local musicians and youth volunteers.  For some, the Luncheons also provide a much needed meal.  Our Luncheons are held once a month from October through June at the Village Municipal Building and are attended by 60-90 seniors.  Volunteers provide round trip transportation to those in need.

  • Holiday Food Baskets - Each Thanksgiving, Christmas/Chanukah and Easter/Passover holiday, we prepare and deliver holiday food baskets to approximately 50 families (with the goal of increasing that number to 75 families within two years).  We are also excited to relaunch our volunteer-driven gift program during the Christmas/Chanukah season which will once again provide gifts to all children of those receiving our baskets.

  • Senior Lunches and Breakfasts – We hold free senior lunches at Pronto Pizza, including our National Senior Citizen’s Day Pizza Party in August, and senior breakfasts at the Croton Colonial Diner.

  • School Supplies – We provide 15-25 Croton-Harmon School District students in need of assistance with vouchers to purchase much-needed school supplies at local Croton businesses.

  • Emergency Assistance – We provide food, utility, prescription, and housing assistance to individuals and families who are experiencing an acute need through gift cards and/or direct payment of bills.

Scholarship – We provide an annual scholarship to a Croton-Harmon High School senior who has demonstrated exceptional volunteerism in the Croton community.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP
